Taking one for the team and giving back to the community
ACSBE Program Facilitator, Helen Chandler, took it all off, her hair that is, to help raise funds for a local nursery school.
On August 9 participants of the "Putting Experience to Work" program, an employability program sponsored by ACSBE, raised almost $2000 through a silent auction, selling lobster chowder, and soliciting pledges to have their heads shaved.

Although the focal point of the program is to assist Older Workers find work or start a business in Lunenburg County, the group decided that they also wanted to make a difference in their community by showing support to a worthy organization.
The Beneficiary, West Northfield Nursery School, is a not-for-profit society that operates from the West Northfield Community Centre. Pre-school children can attend on a part-time basis and become prepared both academically and socially for their journey to “big school”.
“We are so grateful to be able to benefit from this fundraiser", says Donna Slauenwhite, Treasurer of the West Northfield Nursery School. “As a returning parent, this will definitely alleviate some of the pressure of fundraising for the year. We can use these proceeds to help with so many things, including rent and utility costs. The generosity of this group is amazing!”
